GRIP - Handle for people with prosthetic hands
This project addresses the difficulty some people experience when using cutlery, especially users with prosthetic hands, reduced grip strength, or limited hand mobility. Standard fork handles are often thin, smooth, and narrow, making them hard to hold and control during eating. The project proposes an additional 3D-printed handle for an IKEA FÖRNUFT fork, creating a larger and more stable grip surface for everyday use at home, school, work, or in public dining spaces.
The main design question was how a 3D-printed attachment could make a standard fork easier and more comfortable to use for people with prosthetic hands. By adapting an existing object instead of replacing it, the solution remains simple, low-cost, customizable, and suitable for Fab Lab fabrication, while supporting greater independence, comfort, and confidence.
